This study aims to address potential misconceptions about services offered by Planned Parenthood. Initially, we were under the impression that the primary services offered by Planned Parenthood were catered to women: abortion, prenatal counseling/care, STI/STD testing, screenings for breast cancer, etc. However, after further research, it became apparent that there were a variety of services offered to both sexes.

We wanted our research to answer the question, “Are young Black college students aware of the fact that Planned Parenthood provides services that are catered to the sexual/reproductive health of BOTH women and men?” We started by asking a series of relevant questions to a small focus group. However, when attempting to analyze the data, we quickly realized that the focus group was much too small of a survey pool. Therefore, we widened it by creating a digital survey.

The digital survey allowed us to reach a larger audience, gathering responses that would more accurately reflect the awareness of Planned Parenthood’s offerings among young Black college students. The information collected will help identify any prevalent misconceptions and inform future outreach strategies tailored to better educate this demographic on the comprehensive range of services provided by Planned Parenthood.
